> Lesson 7 - 1 The article has prompted me to consider the trip as something to consider for myself and my son. This year we have been studying our New Testament passages in German (using the new NIV), and I will likely be using these same German passages during our trip. However, as I read the article, I realized I was sort of comparing my desire to learn German with the lesson plans for teaching a language. Here is a short list of my comparison: The article mentioned that there were so many different ways to teach a language. Here are some of the ways I thought about teaching a language: Learning a language through books and listening to teaching tapes. Studying a language with native speakers. Studying a language through immersion, which included living in a country where the language is spoken, or study in a country where the language is spoken. Working on the language skills of your children through reading, discussing, and writing. I also knew there were people who did all of the above, but because the plans for the University had no contact hours, I did not know if there were ways to study languages outside of class. After I came to this realization, I came up with some questions: Would you be able to study a language without a class, like the way I am thinking of doing with German? How do you teach a language without having the classes? Would you give your opinion on the type of teaching I might use to teach languages? What would you do? I have wanted to learn German because I have always thought that there were similarities between American and German cultures. I have heard that they share a lot of the same values, like thrift, service, industriousness, and so on. However, I realize that I have a lot to learn. I am excited to do so, and I think it will be fun. I just realized that I will have to get over my fears to succeed in the language. I cannot afford to be afraid of speaking in German. What do you think? "Heaven is not a place you go to, heaven is a place you are. No destination, no purpose. It is simply a state of being in which your heart is at home. Your home is in heaven. No rent, no bills, no duties, no duties, no rules, no discipline, no pain, no gain. You can
